ATL Airport History: Atlanta airport was originally named after a former mayor, Candler Field. It was in 1925 a racetrack which was not in use was leased for five years to start the airport. It soon became an important center for numerous airlines and was renamed as Municipal Airport. A new terminal was built in 1961 at a cost of $21 million and in 1977; the current midfield terminal was built costing $500 million. During this period the airport was renamed as the William B. Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport, honoring the city's former mayor, William Berry Hartsfield. In 2003, it became officially known as the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), after another former mayor of the city, Maynard Jackson.

Atlanta History Center: The Atlanta History Center dedicates two galleries to showcase the nation's best traveling exhibitions. Atlanta Cyclorama & Civil War Museum: This museum started in 1983 is the longest running show in the country. It is located in historic Grant Park, next to the Zoo.
